Ayodhya Case: Muslim parties change stand, deny accepting Ram Chabutra as birthplace of Lord Ram

New Delhi:

A day after Muslim parties seemed to have accepted Ram Chabutra as the birthplace of Lord Ram, Sunni Waqf Board's representative Zafaryab Jilani made it clear that they did not consider it so on Wednesday. This is the 31st day of the day-to-day hearing of the Ram Janmabhumi-Babri Masjid title dispute case in Supreme Court.

Changing his stand from Tuesday, Senior Advocate Zafaryab Jilani said that he was only stating that fact the Hindu parties believe that Ram Chabutra as the birthplace of Lord Ram. However, he added that they are not challenging the district court order of 1986 that accepeted this belief of the Hindu parties.

On Tuesday, the Muslim parties seemed to have accepted that Ram Chabutra was the birthplace of Lord Ram.

During his submission on the birthplace of Lord Ram based on gazetteers and Valmiki Ramayana, Jilani said that there is no dispute to the fact that Lord Ram was born in Ayodhya. He added that their dispute was whether the birthplace was inside the mosque or not.

The Supreme Court judge then asked that you accept that Ram Chabutra, which came into existence after 1855, is the birthplace?

“We accept it because three other courts said it,” Jilani had replied.
