Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Wednesday criticised the Supreme Court for the delay in Ayodhya case. Terming the top court’s decision to defer hearing on the Ayodhya case “inappropriate”, RSS leader Indresh Kumar said that a three-judge bench “disrespected” 125 crore Indians. “I haven’t taken names because 125 crore Indians know their names, a three-judge bench (SC) was there. They delayed, they denied, they disrespected. This was inappropriate,” ANI quoted the RSS leader as saying.
As general elections are approaching the country, the RSS and its hardline Hindu affiliates have intensified their “movement” for the Ram Temple at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya - believed to be the birthplace of Hindu deity Lord Ram. Recently, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad had organised a Dharma Sabha in Ayodhya to push for the construction of Ram temple as early as possible.

This was not the first time that the RSS has criticised the Supreme Court over the Ayodhya case. Earlier this month, RSS general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi had accused the court of “insulting” Hindus.
“Since the matter was listed (for hearing) on October 29, we felt Hindus would get good news before Diwali. But the Supreme Court refused to hear the matter and deferred the hearing. The court also said their priorities were different,” Joshi said, adding that “Hindus are feeling insulted”
Since 1990, when LK Advani conducted the political-religious march ‘Rath Yatra’, Ram Temple has been on top of the electoral promises of the BJP - a political outfit of the right-wing group RSS. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections as well, the BJP had sought votes of Hindus in the name of Ram Temple. However, the party failed to fulfill the promise and is now putting the blame for the delay in construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya on the Congress.

While RSS is taking on the Supreme Court, the BJP is targeting the Congress for the delay in the construction of Ram Temple. Recently, addressing a rally in Rajasthan’s Alwar, PM Modi had said that the Congress party had threatened former Chief Justice Dipak Misra with impeachment when he tried to hear all the concerned parties to deliver justice in Ayodhya case.
