New Delhi:

Taking a dig at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her reaction to the slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, Minister of State (MoS) in Narendra Modi Cabinet and BJP parliamentarian from Asansol, Babul Supriyo, on Monday said that ‘Didi’ (Mamata) was rattled by the saffron party’s presence in the state and advised her to take a break for few days.

“She is an experienced politician but her behaviour is abnormal and bizarre. She should keep in mind the dignity of the post she holds. She should take a break for a few days. She is rattled by BJP's presence in Bengal,” ANI quoted Supriyo as saying.

The BJP leader said that something was not well with the West Bengal chief minister and that “Get Well Soon” cards will be sent to her from his constituency.

“She is the cause for so many memes on social media, it is not good for anyone. From my constituency Asansol, we will send 'Get Well Soon' cards to Mamata Banerjee. Something is definitely not well with Didi, and she needs to answer that,” he said.

On Thursday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lost her cool when her cavalcade was interrupted by some men chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in an area falling under 24 Parganas.

Confronting the group, she said, “These are all outsiders and BJP people, they are criminals and were abusing me. They are not from Bengal.” Threatening her rivals, the Chief Minister even improvised an iconic Mithun Chakraborty dialogue from movie ‘MLA Fatakeshto’ and said, “I know all of them. I am challenging you all. Do you remember the dialogue of Mithun Chakraborty? 'marbo ekhane.. laash porbe... (Will thrash you here, corpse will fall) no I cannot talk about corpse, I will say 'marbo ekhane ... bichar hobe okhane (I will thrash you here and you will get justice there).”

In response to Banerjee’s reaction, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) decided to send 10 lakh post cards with "Jai Shri Ram" written on them to her residence. BJP state president Dilip Ghosh said the more Trinamool Congress chief protests against the chant the more public support she would lose in the state.

BJP national general secretary and Bengal minder Kailash Vijayvargiya also slammed the West Bengal chief minister and asked her if chanting “Jai Shri Ram” was a crime in Bengal.

"She doesn't get angry at Bangladeshi infiltrators, Rohingyas, murderers, and rapists. But she gets angry at young men who chant 'Jai Shri Ram'. Is chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' a crime in Bengal?" Vijayvargiya said.
