New Delhi:
India is celebrating the 'National Unity Day' to mark the 144 birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. To mark the day, the Centre and several BJP-led state governments have organised many events. Prime Minister Modi, who is in his home state Gujarat, paid homage to Sardar Patel at his grand statue in Kevadia. In National Capital Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah flagged off the 'Run For Unity' marathon at the National Stadium.
The nation is also remembering former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 35th death anniversary on Thursday. Mrs Gandhi was assassinated by her bodyguards just outside her New Delhi residence on October 31, 1984.
In other news, armies of India and France will carry out counter terrorism drills under the joint exercise code named 'Shakti- 2019' beginning at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan.
