PM Modi UNGA Speech Live: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing the United Nations General Assembly on Friday evening according to Indian standard time. PM Modi is expected to strongly raise the issue of terror and also climate change. It has been a week of hectic engagement for him in the United States where he landed on Saturday. This is the second time he will address the world body since 2014. The last time he addressed UNGA was in 2014. During his last speech, PM gave the idea of Yoga day, which has now become a major annual event celebrated across the world on 21st June. PM Modi is scheduled to speak fourth after Indonesian Vice-President and the Prime Minister of Lesotho. Pakistan PM Imran Khan is also scheduled to address the UNGA today shortly after Modi’s address.
Khan is expected to deliver his speech shortly after PM Modi and it is speculated that he will rake up the Kashmir issue once again while PM Modi is expected to focus on peace and development in the region. Indo-Pak relations remain tense after India stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its special status and bifurcated the state into two Union territories.
When is PM Modi's speech in United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)?
PM Narendra Modi will speak at the UNGA in New York on September 27. On Friday, the UNGA proceedings will begin at 9 am local time i.e. 6:30 pm IST. PM Modi was schedule to be the seventh speaker of the day. However, he now has become given the fourth slot. Usually UNGA speeches last around 20-30 minutes, it means PM Modi may start his speech somewhere between 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm.
