Amid the worsening political crisis in Madhya Pradesh, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi took a sharp dig at the BJP on Wednesday. The Wayanad MP took to Twitter to attack the Centre. Tagging the Prime Minister’s Office, Gandhi said that the Centre was trying to destabilise the elected Congress government in Madhya Pradesh. “Hey @PMOIndia, while you were busy destabilising an elected Congress Govt, you may have missed noticing the 35% crash in global oil prices. Could you please pass on the benefit to Indians by slashing #petrol prices to under Rs 60 per litre? Will help boost the stalled economy (sic),” Gandhi said on micro-blogging site. Amid the curt attack online, Gandhi has maintained stoic silence offline. He was seen dodging media queries in Parliament earlier in morning. Jyotiraditya Scindia, a close confidant of Gandhi, is set to join the BJP later in the day. In a dramatic turn of events, Scindia met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. Later, he announced his resignation in a letter dated March 9. Along with him, 21 Congress leaders including six ministers resigned from the party.
Meanwhile, there are reports that over 80 Congress MLAs from the state are expected to arrive in Rajasthan on Wednesday afternoon. "The party MLAs are reaching here from Madhya Pradesh," they said. Earlier, the sources had said that the legislators would arrive at the Jaipur airport at 11 am, but that has been delayed. Meanwhile, three luxury buses have reached the airport which will be used to take the MLAs to a resort located near the Jaipur-Delhi highway. It is the same resort where legislators from Maharashtra were lodged in November last year. All arrangements are being made on the directions of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the sources said.
