Rajasthan Police has frozen a bank account which received more than Rs 2.50 lakh donations for fighting court case of Shambhulal Regar, who is in custody for hacking and setting ablaze a migrant labourer from West Bengal to death and filming the barbaric act.
The state police has also arrested two businessmen for allegedly circulating images on social media of receipts which acknowledged their donations to the account of Regar’s wife.
Anand Shrivastava, IG Udaipur Range, said “Rs 2.75 lakh was deposited into account of Regar’s wife, Sita. Around 516 people from across the country have deposited the money for fighting Regar’s case.”
“The account has been freezed,” added Shrivastava.

According to a senior police officer stationed at Bhim police station said, “Two businessman identified as Prakash Singh and Dinesh Singh have been arrested. FIR has been lodged under relevant sections of law for circulation of donation receipts on social media.”
Rajsamand district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC after several groups announced to take out procession in support of Regar.

“Actions will be taken against anyone who violates rule of law,” said Shrivastava.
Regar, 36, had hacked one Mohammed Afrazul, a migrant labourer from West Bengal’s Malda, to death and torched his body early this month. West Bengal government requested Rajasthan government to take stringent actions against the culprits.
