As preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are in full swing, the distribution of tickets has become a contentious issue. Many aspirants are competing for the opportunity to run in the elections, and they are putting forth their best efforts. In this competitive environment, where money and influence are being heavily utilized, an interesting incident has occurred in Gujarat. On October 15th, the State BJP President CR Patil attended a blood donation camp, Vishwabandhu Mega Blood Donation Camp, which was organized by the Sarva Dharm Sambhav Samiti to celebrate the birthday of Rajkot-based businessman Maulesh Ukani.
Impressed by Ukani's strong record of helping others, Patil offered him a chance to run in the Lok Sabha elections. However, Ukani turned down the offer, saying he isn't interested in politics and prefers to visit Dwarka Dham over going to Delhi or Gandhinagar. It's worth noting that Ukani is also part of the board of trustees in Dwarakadheesh, a sacred town on India's west coast. In a time when many powerful people are trying to enter politics, Ukani's statement has stirred up local Gujarati media interest.
Maulesh Bhai Ukani is a celebrated figure in Gujarat, renowned for his philanthropic endeavors. During the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, he played a pivotal role in providing free food and medicine to the underprivileged. Ukani is also dedicated to organizing free health check-up camps for the elderly and socially disadvantaged individuals. Moreover, he is well-known for his contributions to girls' education and marriage. In his professional life, he is the founder and Managing Director of an Ayurvedic company with a mission to create job opportunities for as many people as possible.
His charitable work has earned him several accolades, including recognition from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Interestingly, the invitation from the BJP State President to Ukani to enter politics took place during a charity event held on his birthday. Notably, the blood donation camp at this event achieved a remarkable feat, collecting blood equivalent to at least six times Ukani's body weight in a single day. This exceptional achievement garnered significant praise from the Gujarati media, applauding Ukani for his commendable efforts.
It's important to highlight that the offer extended by Patil to Maulesh Bhai was not an empty gesture. Ukani is a prominent member of the influential Kadva Patidar community, believed to be descendants of Lord Rama's younger son, Kush. They are primarily concentrated in various regions of Gujarat, including North, Central, South Gujarat, and Saurashtra. Their political clout is exemplified by the fact that the current MP for the area, BJP leader Mohanbhai Kundariya, also hails from the Kadva Patidar community. Had Maulesh Bhai accepted Patil's proposition, there was a significant likelihood of him representing Rajkot in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
It is exceptionally exceptional and inspiring to discover that, even in a time when many pursue wealth and power, there exists a selfless businessman in the heart of India whose sole purpose in life is public service. However, this is not entirely surprising, considering Maulesh Bhai's profound devotion to Lord Krishna, as detachment from the outcomes of one's actions is at the very core of all meaningful deeds.
