New Delhi:
Good Friday is being celebrated across the globe on April 19, i.e. today. It is one of the most important events in Christianity. It was on this day that Jesus Christ was crucified way back in 30 AD. It is observed with hyms and prayers and Christians also keep a day-long fast. However, many of us often wonder why it is called ‘Good Friday’ when it is the day when Jesus died. Well, here’s some of the theories:
It is said that ‘Good’ is just a misrepresentation of Holy Friday, and some argue the fact that Good Friday is an imitation of God’s Friday.
Some believe that God poured out his wrath on sins over Jesus in order to ‘bestow forgiveness and salvation out to the nations’. To put it simple, Jesus paid for all our sins.
Again, there are a few people who also believe that it is called Good Friday as it signifies a day that you go to the church and pray to God, and you spend your day taking part in religious activities. It is the same as giving good tide to someone on any other religious holiday.
However, these are all just theories, every person has a different story to tell which is followed for generations.
