The Quiet Space: Follow the wild waterways

My favourite places on earth are the wild waterways where the forest opens its arms and a silver curve of river folds the traveller into its embrace. ~Rory MacLean

So, what's your favourite place on earth?

A simple innocent question that makes you gleefully raise your little hand as a child to quickly club your mouth that fell wide opened may seem not too easy to answer, for you are lost.

A frown and a smile on your face... you are thinking just like when you were a kid. But back then, you knew. You lived in a small world. You could think of a closet where you could hide or a treetop where you can run away and live by yourself for a day or two or a park where you could play the whole day. Now, years have passed. Things have changed. And you have no time to even look back. The world just got wider by the day and is forever expanding. And you are constantly on the run. But you are running on empty. You are lost. You are heading nowhere for you are bound for nowhere.

When you are lost and standing at a crossroad at every turn of the day, what could be your favourite place.

Remember, the place you spent your last summer holiday? But what could be better than that old pub or that thick brown sofa where you can ease yourself and surf the TV channels or your cosy couch, where you can laze around in comfort the whole day, munching your favourite cookies or listening to music.

So you do have a favourite place you don't want to name. You also have places where you feel at home. And home is where you want to come back again. There you are!  Spaces where you want to come back to are surely your favourite places. Now, you know. Take that way back home. A way back home? Yes. Home, where the heart is. It's easy. Just follow your heart. The trail to a home is priceless. You just have to take the road home.

You are still thinking. Stop thinking. Drop everything. Take off your shoes and run down the wild waterways amidst the cool green in the deep. Breath in the tranquility and smell the fresh ferns. Here, you will never be lost. Here, you can always come back home.
