New Delhi:
Rarely do pets or animals who get injured are treated the way humans are. Prosthetics for pets is yet to establish itself in full swing.
However a 15-year-old turtle in the United States, Lousiana got lucky when its foster parent got it a special wheelchair to help him with movement.
When Pedro was brought home by Sandra Traylor, it had three legs. However, after a few months, the turtle disappeared from her backyard. when it returned one more leg went missing making it almost immobile.
Traylor then seeks treatment for her beloved pet at Louisiana State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
“There was nothing medically wrong with him, But of course he didn’t have any back legs,†Ginger Guttner, the communications manager for LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine told CNN.After much brainstorming, an intern with the hospital came up with the idea of attaching lego pieces underneath the turtle and then glue wheels to them which would act as artificial legs or a custom made wheelchair helping it move again
Meet Pedro the ðŸ¢. He’s rolling through life thanks to doctors and students at @LSUVetMed.

Pedro, a 15-year-old box turtle, who lost both his legs, recently received a special set of wheels that will help him with movement.
Our patients can be two grams or 2,000 pounds, so we often have to look at things from a completely different perspective,†Guttner told the CNN.
LSU had earlier once built a little fountain to help keep a fish alive as they performed an endoscopy.
Pedro now has its own social media account operated by his owner Sandra where the entire initiative was posted. Netizens couldn't stop but react to Pedro's braveness in going through this process, the innovative gesture of the LSU team in making a helpless turtle find its own grown quite literally yet again.
