This is certainly shocking! An Australian teenager came out from Melbourne's Brighton beach, with his legs all soaked with blood. The teenager named Sam Kanizay had his ankles and feet all covered up in blood after being bitten by tiny flesh eating sea bugs. This has puzzled the marine experts who are working out to find the identity of these creatures.
The sixteen-year-old went to the beach to soothe his legs after playing a tiring football game. He stood in the water for thirty minutes and felt nothing. But once he walked out from the water, his legs were bleeding profusely and were covered with sea bugs.
The family of the teenager boy took him to the hospital when the blood kept on reappearing despite taking a shower.
The incident which took place on Saturday evening has been likened to a horror film's scene.
Media reports suggest that two local hospitals were not able to determine the cause of the injury. Sam's father decided to take the matter under his own hand and collected the sea bugs in a net from the same location. Mr. Kanizay also filmed the creatures consuming meat. These sea bugs were sent to the experts for examination. Experts have said that the creatures filmed by the father are different from the ones who ate the skin of his son.
According to Jeff Weir, who is the executive director at Dolphin Research Institute, the injury could be likely caused by the bite of some amphipod, a tiny crustacean.
