New Delhi:

A strong 6.0- magnitude earthquake on Tuesday jolted northern Japan. However, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The authorities also declined the risk of tsunami after the earthquake.

The quake struck at 5:22 a.m. (8:22 GMT) off Iwate prefecture at a depth of about 30 kilometers (20 miles), the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

It shook the same region hit by a deadly earthquake and tsunami in 2011.

This is the second earthquake reported in Japan in the last few days. Earlier, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake shook Japan’s capital Tokyo on September 23.
