Amid shrill ‘goli-boli’ campaign, the BJP’s biggest star campaigner -Prime Minister Narendra Modi- will address his first rally in East Delhi’s Karkardooma area on Monday. The election rally will be held at CBD Ground in Karkardooma at around 2:30 pm on Monday. This is the first major rally by the Prime Minister in the National Capital this year. Before this, the Prime Minister had held a grand rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on December 22 last year. The crucial rally comes at a time when several BJP leaders have spoken provocatively against Shaheen Bagh’s anti-CAA protests.
So, all eyes would be on the Prime Minister’s poll rally and what exactly he says during the programme. Will he speak about Shaheen Bagh or steer clear of the controversy and focus on development agenda? This would be known in the afternoon.
Top officials of the Delhi Police including Commissioner Amulya Patnaik have already inspected the area. Additional security measures have been taken in view of the VVIP rally. At Ramlila rally, PM Modi had famously said that there were no detention centres in India. Accusing the Opposition of spreading lies over the Citizenship Amendment Act, PM Modi had said that, "There has been no talk on NRC anywhere. It was only implemented in Assam after the Supreme Court's direction. Lies are being spread. Educated nasalis -- urban Naxals -- are spreading the rumour that all Muslims will be sent to detention centres."
The BJP’s poll campaign has been centred around the Shaheen Bagh protests. From Kapil Mishra to Parvesh Verma, from Anurag Thakur to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, several major BJP leaders have resorted to controversial tone in their poll rallies. Latest in the line is the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, who raked up biryani and Pakistan during his polls rally.
Addressing a series of rallies in the national capital, Adityanath also said that "their ancestors divided India", so they have a grouse against this emerging 'Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat', and slammed the AAP government, saying it "supplies biryani" to protesters in Shaheen Bagh.

Last week, the Election Commission of India on Thursday banned BJP MPs Anurag Thakur and Parvesh Verma from campaigning and for 72 hours and 96 hours respectively. This came a day after the Election Commission ordered removal of Anurag Thakur and Parvesh Verma from the list of star campaigners of BJP for Delhi assembly elections.
Election Commission had issued a show-cause notice to Union minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday for his “desh ke gaddaron ko” slogan at a poll meeting, saying prima facie the remarks had the “potential of disturbing communal harmony” and the BJP MP had violated the poll code and electoral law.
