New Delhi:

The trailer of Taapsee Pannu’s Thappad hit the internet today and it looks as powerful as the name of the movie. Just a day before the trailer release, Taapsee had shared the first look poster of Anubhav Sinha's upcoming movie. In the poster, Taapsee's face appears to be distorted with her hair going astray, as if she's been hit with a slap. The poster has received thumbs-ups from her fans on Twitter and Instagram. However, it seems that the makers have tried to take inspiration from the poster of a Mexican film.

A social media user has pointed out that Taapsee’s poster shares a striking similarity with the 2012 Mexican film After Lucia. Both posters feature a close-up shot of the lead actress captured in motion, presumably after being slapped.

''Befitting response to After Lucia Poster by Tapsee Didi #ThappadTrailer,'' read the tweet.

Apart from Taapsee Pannu, the movie also features Ratna Pathak Shah, Manav Kaul, Dia Mirza, Tanvi Azmi, and Ram Kapoor. Talking about the film, Taapsee had earlier said, ''Working with Anubhav sir is always an enriching experience and he encourages one to push the envelope. When he discussed Thappad, I immediately decided this was a film I had to do. It has a thought provoking storyline and deals with a subject which must be addressed in our society. To put it in perspective, looking at what we aim to convey with our film, I can say Thappad is this year’s Pink.''

Apart from Thappad, Taapsee also has sports-drama Shabaash Mithu. It stars the actor as Indian cricketer Mithali Raj. "I don't think I want to trade this place with anyone else right now. She has always been brave and strong to back truth and her idols, and that is the connect I feel with her. The way she changed the way women's cricket is perceived and seen in India is truly a story worth telling," the actor had said in a statement.

Produced by Ajit Andhare and helmed by Rahul Dholakia, the sports-drama is slated to hit the theatres on February 5, 2021. The actress will be seen in another biopic of athlete Rashmi from Gujarat. The film is titled as Rashmi Rocket and a motion poster of the film was released earlier this year.
