Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani-starrer has entered the coveted 100 crore club within five days of its release. It is to be noted that the film, a remake of the hit Telugu flick Arjun Reddy which was released in 2017, has been receiving heavy criticism for misogynistic content and glorification of its troubled hero. And now, the film has fallen into fresh trouble as a Mumbai-based doctor has registered a complaint against Shahid Kapoor starrer for portraying doctors in a bad light.

It is to be noted that Kabir Singh is a film based on an alcoholic surgeon and how he ends up on the path of self-destruction after his lover Preethi gets married to someone else. In the film, Kabir performs surgery while being drunk. He is a chain smoker, a drug addict and despite all these things, he is a top class surgeon.

In his complaint, the Mumbai-based doctor has mentioned all these things. According to the media reports, he has also written a letter to the central Health Minister, Information and Broadcasting Ministry, State Health Ministry, and the Censor Board of Film Certification requesting to stop the screening of the film. “The film is ruining the image of doctors by portraying them in a bad light,” he said in his complaint.

Kabir Singh, which is directed by Sandeep Vanga, has so far earned Rs 104.90 crore at the box-office.

Besides Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, Kabir Singhalso stars Arjan Bajwa, Suresh Oberoi, Kamini Kaushal, Adil Hussain, Nikita Dutta and Soham Majum among others.

Recently, singer Sona Mohapatra and Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) member Vani Tripathi criticised the film for its misogynistic content.
